Bio:
Veteran | Mother | Advocate | Survivor These words best describe who I am. I joined the military through the delayed entry program (DEP) as a junior in high school and left for boot camp soon after graduating. Took each contract and focused on it vice making decisions on length of service and 20 years later found myself at the crossroads of retirement or another contract... I opted retirement. I am also a mother to three children (who are now almost all adults), raised them as a single mother, making decisions that were beyond difficult as I found myself at the face of deployments. I faced hardship when two struggled with mental health ailments due to circumstances surrounding my deployments. It was during these times that I found my passion in psychology which led me to earning both a Bachelors and Masters in Psychology. I am certified in Mental Health First Aid, a facilitator for children who struggle with the aftermath of suicide, and a trained first responder for someone struggling with suicidal thoughts. |
